Remembering My Friends !!!!!!!!!

In the course of life we rub shoulders with many people, some are warm some are kind. Some are afraid and closed. We connect with those few and they stay but some  people, come and go out as fast as they had come into our lives.

When God created the world and all the majestic things in it, he outdid it all by creating friends. Friendship is a blessing, and a friend is the channel through whom great emotional, spiritual, and sometimes even physical blessings flow .Friends are a pretty important part of most people's lives.

Why not take a moment or two and thank someone today for being a friend to you?

Friends might come and go in your life, they might make you laugh and cry, but most importantly of all they love you for who you are. Friends can cheer us when we’re sorrowful or depressed. Friends can challenge us when we allow ourselves to get beyond our reasonable boundaries. Friends can motivate us when we’re ready to give in, and they can provide for us when life falls apart. They are there when all is well, and we want someone with who to share life’s pleasant and memorable moments.

The older I get, I truly appreciate the friendships and relationships in my life.

I still remember as a teenager I use to always wonder whom to trust, who would understand me and with whom I want to spend my time.

When I was leaving for college, I had only one school friend who had got in the same college with me (that was a solace of a kind!!!)  I went with the conviction to the college that my “best pals “are always going to be my school friends, who I grew up with , I shared my good and bad times ( even my those first crush !!!!!! J ). The people I will meet in college are just going to be my “temporary friends”.

But, soon I realized that my college friends have become my real friends too, so what if they were not there with me when I got the first punishment in my school, not there to celebrate my 13th birthday ( the entry into the teens !!! as they say ),when I bunked the class for the first time , but they were there when I use to struggle with my assignments ( majorly statistics !!! J ) , they lifted me up when the times were tough, they were there to drop me home when it was difficult to get the transport back home.

It would be unfair to think about their friendship as second best!

I did not want to ignore my school friends neither wanted to stay away from my college buddies. And I began to involve both the groups with each other so that I can have the best of both. To my surprise they jelled so well, few of them went ahead and became life partners. (How did I forget they were my friends they would definitely like each other)

I took up my first job few more after my graduation, when friends got added in the list, with whom I worked side by side and we shared the same goals.

Virtually every new life chapter has the potential to disrupt friendships, as the chapter called MARRIAGE... unfolded in my life, I moved to the foreign land holding hands with my better half. It was an unknown territory for me, but I had hoped to find few friends.

I truly believed that through fate (and a bit by chance) I will definitely find few smiling faces and helping hands in the one of the most beautiful and unique countries of Africa i.e. Nigeria, here I got friends who calmed my fears, shared my joys (birth of my son, I never felt that I was away from my family, with them being around at that time), my triumphs and failures.

Friendship is a commitment for life; you cannot treat it as a contract made on paper. But yes it’s a promise renewed every time you keep in touch.

Now with kid and life’s challenges I really don’t spend much time with friends. I want all of them to know that even we are apart physically and emotionally, don’t talk often or even for years now, I really appreciate and treasure the friendship, joys and sorrows that we shared….

HOPE I HAVE BEEN HALF AS GOOD A FRIEND, YOU ALL HAVE BEEN TO ME!!!

Very nicely written Shazneen. I was just about finishing a post about friendship and before that came to read this one..shows how much most of us think of our friends and what they mean to us!
